My Latest Cake
I just want to share my latest cake. It was for my cousin's wedding. It's not exactly what I would want for my wedding but my cousin is really into primitive country things. Her wedding was lovely and the cake fit perfectly into her theme. I love her like a sister and was glad I had the opportunity to present this gift to her. I got the idea from a picture I found on the internet so don't anyone think the idea was entirely mine and I would love to give credit to the person who designed it if I can find them.
I was so nervous about the cake because I ran into many hurdles with it. First, I dropped one of the cakes on the floor which is the first time I ever did that. So I had to remake that cake. Then the cake I remade wasn't as tall as the others and I had to make another one. When I put them together, the sizes were all wrong. I needed a bigger cake for the bottom so off to the store I ran for a bigger pan. Needless to say, I have 2 cakes in my freezer that I didn't use. That's OK because Christmas is coming and they will make beautiful Christmas cakes. The last hurdle I faced was the fondant. I think that fondant is one of those things that you need a lot of practice and patience to work with. I think by handling the cakes too much, the fondant wasn't as smooth as I wanted to be so I panicked. I thought for sure the cake wasn't going to look good but once I arrived at the wedding site which was 4 hours away from home and put it together - I was very pleased with my work of art.
