5 Steps to a Flawless Finish

Is your makeup routine in a rut? Follow these easy steps from Avon (+pro tips) to get your fabulous face on! I added in some additional steps that I personally use every day to get a flawless look. I really like the "no-makeup" look and is my every day look. I always apply my makeup so it's not really noticeable but if you see my face without it, you'll know I definitely I wear makeup!

5 Steps plus more tips from me:

1. Lay the foundation.Try liquid foundation for a natural look or a cream-to-powder for a semi-matte look. Avon's pro tip is to always blend foundation with a brush but I use a cosmetic wedge. I tried using a foundation brush but found that this technique uses too much foundation. I felt like a had a thick coat of foundation on my face.

Avon forgot an important step - apply Magix primer first before your foundation. Magix is one of my favorite Avon products. Magix primer is a colorless cream that softens the look of imperfections and keeps your face oil-free for most of the day. You can wear it alone or under makeup.

2. Conceal flaws. Sticks are great for a quick fix while creams work best on dark spots. Avon's pro tip is choose a concealer one or two shades lighter than your foundation. I agree 100% with this tip. I use two shades lighter under my eyes. No matter what skin care product I use, I always have dark circles under my eyes. It is what it is! I use a stick concealer under my eyes because I think it covers better. I use a creme concealer on any blemishes and other imperfections. I let the creme concealer dry for a bit before applying foundation so I think the concealer step should be step one not step two.

3. Highlight and bronze. Give your face sculpted, sun-kissed definition by dusting bronzer powder on the cheekbones, nose and forehead. Use a light shade to highlight cheekbones. Before I apply bronzer, I use Smooth Minerals loose powder over my foundation. For a truly flawless look, the powder hides imperfections completely and gives my face an even tone.

4. Sweep on blush. Look radiant by trying a powder blush for a matte look or a cream stick for a dewy finish. I prefer Smooth Minerals loose blush because I prefer less is more. I think a cream stick is just a little too much and I find myself washing it off. I like a copper shade of blush to go with my skintone and dark hair. Avon's pro tip is blend toward hairline and down to jawline. I really enjoy applying blush because it makes my face come alive with color. Then I'm ready to make my eyes and ready to face the day!

5. Ready, set, go! Set makeup with loose powder for sheer coverage and pressed powder for heavier touch ups. I use a loose powder which covers just fine. I keep pressed powder in my purse to use throughout the day. Avon's pro tip is apply translucent powder to T-zone first, then a light dusting, blending with a powder brush. I don't use this tip. I apply my powder in a circular motion with a kabuki brush all over my face being careful to blend in on the sides of my face and jawline.
my flawless look

Don't be afraid to try new things! I change the way I do my makeup and the products I use. For one, products are always changing and two, I like the natural look but I like new techniques. I used to use the cream-to-powder only but found that it would smear off on my clothes and phone too much. I switched to a liquid foundation and then added the powder a few years ago to really cover some blemishes and what I call old age spots. They're probably not old age spots but I find that as I get older, a blemish seems to scar more than when I was younger.
